Curaga Records presents “Video Game LoFi: UNDERTALE Vol. 02” - a cozy, 10-track tribute by Save Point, reimagining Toby Fox’s iconic soundtrack with warm analog synths, jazzy piano, and tape-saturated drums.
Following his contributions to Vol. 01, Save Point and friends reimagine fan-favorite themes like “Megalovania,” “Ghost Fight!,” “Another Medium”, and more. Laid-back guitar, smooth analog synths, jazzy piano, and warm, tape-saturated drums bring new life to Toby Fox’s iconic soundtrack. The result is a heartfelt, collaborative blend of lo-fi chillhop, jazz hop, and nostalgic chiptune—creative yet faithful to the emotional storytelling at the core of UNDERTALE.
From Save Point: Taking on UNDERTALE felt almost impossible.
This soundtrack means so much to so many. It’s one of the most iconic and emotional bodies of work to ever come out of an indie game, and the idea of reinterpreting it felt daunting. There’s a certain kind of magic Toby Fox captured that’s hard to explain—and even harder to remix without losing what makes it special.
I had the chance to contribute a few tracks to Video Game LoFi: UNDERTALE Vol. 01, a fantastic album from Emunator and Hotline Sehwani. But Vol. 02 felt different—this time I was in the driver’s seat, and I wanted to build something thoughtful, collaborative, and full of heart. I didn’t want to just remix these songs—I wanted to honor them and give fans something different.
So I reached out to friends—people I’ve shared late-night mixes, heartfelt DMs, and half-finished beats with at 2am—and with a little focus, I feel like we’ve truly crafted something unique. You’ll hear live guitar takes with string squeaks left in, dusty analog synths, drum grooves sculpted through an SP-404, warm tape-saturated bass, and jazzy resampled piano riffs. Everything here was made with intention.
A special shoutout to lemondrop, who programmed chiptune parts on LSDJ using a real Game Boy for “Spooktune.” That kind of detail and dedication blew me away. And to Ben Briggs—his funky synth leads on “CORE” are signature Ben: colorful, bold, and ridiculously fun. We’ve been creating music together for over 10 years, and every time we collab, it just clicks. Huge thanks to everyone involved for their patience with me. Putting this together took time, intention, and a lot of mixing tweaks I lost track of. But we got there—and I’m proud of the album we’ve crafted.
This album is for anyone who has ever lingered in the Underground to hear the music. Who stayed in Napstablook’s house a little too long. Who still thinks about that one decision they made on their first playthrough. I hope you enjoy this album as much as I enjoyed making it.
